Getting into origins here, yeah… so.
I’ll leave it there.
What I’m Reading/Watching
That Texas Blood Vol. 3
Great tight little crime book! I loved that they don’t give you everything - and that each volume stands perfectly well on its own. Recommend!
Was on a flight last week and watched a few movies…
The Menu
It’s a nice little thriller(?) about the frustrations of creating art, burnout, annoying clients, whatever. It for the most part worked… although it does feel like it’s the same setup as the Knives Out movies, group of objectively bad people face retribution at the hands of all knowing guy & female lead.
Bullet Train
Fun little action movie - enjoyable for the most part, completely void of anything interesting though. The finale was sooo stupidly insane and CGI filled that it kind of ruined it for me. Sort of reminded me of something like Smokin’ Aces (colorful cast of characters attempting to kill each other).
In the Line of Fire
Hadn’t watched this one in a while! Wildly entertaining movie, Clint’s charming as ever, Renee Russo was great in these roles (think Lethal Weapon 3/4, Thomas Crown Affair…), John Malkovich is an awesome villain. I really love this type of movie - it’s a small thriller, has some inherent humor to it, well cast, with enough tension to pull you along throughout.
